Health & Safety Compliance
At Perimeter Site Security, we recognise the importance of Operational Health and Safety across all sites where we conduct our security services. Construction and demolition sites can be acutely hazardous environments to our own security personnel, construction and demolition industry personnel and the general public. Our Health and Safety strategies are in accordance with standards expected by the HSE and mandated by legislation and regulations, such as the Health and Safety At Work Act (1974) and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
During security deployments, Perimeter Site Security ensures:
- Verified licencing – Only S.I.A. (or P.S.A. in the Republic of Ireland) licenced guards are deployed to provide security.
- PPE and COSHH compliance – Any and all personnel must be equipped with the appropriate level of PPE and training on how to safely wear it. All equipment must be in good condition to maximise its effectiveness. Where there is risk of exposure to hazardous substances (e.g. cement dust), appropriate PPE to wear and COSHH training must be provided. If Asbestos is present on site, all personnel must undergo Asbestos Awareness training.Â
- Access control – Non-essential persons are prohibited from entering sites, and often discouraged through use of warning boards, to ensure the wider public is protected from the hazards found on construction and demolition sites.
- Technology-assisted safety – Use of technology, such as CCTV and drones, assists in ensuring not only the protection of the site but of wider safety for security personnel and other site personnel. All drones and CCTV are exclusively used by professionals equipped with the appropriate training.
- Security dog safety – All dogs used on sites are only deployed alongside fully trained security dog handlers to ensure that dogs do not cause unnecessary harm to other personnel or members of the public that are not posing any security risk.
- Energy infrastructure and high voltage safety – On sites with energy infrastructure (e.g. solar farms and substations), personnel to undergo High Voltage Awareness training where appropriate.
